245's on 8" rim ok?
seen some nice 17" wheels/tyres that I like, only problem is they're fitted with 245/75/17's
They look slightly 'thin' for the 8" rim, would they be ok?[/list]

The measured rim that tyre size is optimised for is a 7J. But the max rim width allowable is an 8J, so what you have is legally correct, but may not 'look' optimum.

Lambley I like fatter tyres as you know but with them thin bad boys you could start selling ice creams from your Defender perhaps?

From an older thread when I was considering going from thin to fat. Laughing

99 - Rolling with laughter Long time since I had one of them!

I agree, they do look slim somehow, shame really, I like the wheels but not the tyres that are on them.....

No harm in asking if they'll split perhaps? If you go through life with your head in the sand....all people will see is an ar5e!!

Might try, did think about that. TBH I'd prefer satin rather than gloss somehow, but thought they were a decentish price, missed a set of 5 x 17's with 285 Mickey T's a couple of months ago so they do come up now and then 2nd hand. I did give Twisted a call to enquire about a set but I think I got the young girl on reception, it was like pulling teeth so I gave up!

Lambley I must ask "Are you absolutely sure?" You seem to be having a 'crisis of wheel choice' of late. Stick with the ZUs they look great and spend the money on something else.

I know you're right Mal, I think it's down to having far too much time on my hands and constantly looking for wheels, Defender bits, mowers, bank accounts, mountain bikes, roofing slates - basically I research everything to death!

Much the best way to do it IMO. I do as much research and reading up as possible on anything big, so I go in with my eyes open.

The only thing that approach seems less successful on is women.
