Focal Speaker Upgrade
I upgraded all my speakers, as well as a sub with Focal kit, which is of really high quality. I got them from Kevin at MUD about 6 months ago after he said he was able to source them.

He's now listing them on his site, he is able to get ANY Focal items, so if you don't see it on his site, give him a call.

The quality is amazing and my 'system' puts the local 'boy racers' to shame Wink

Definitely recommended.

2007 Defender 90 Puma 2.4 XS CSW Cairns Blue
I fitted the ISN100s and the PC100s in my 90 today. Have to say, I am still to be convinced. The sound is very crisp and clear, but I definitely need more bass.

I managed to get a good deal, I found the ISN100s online at Road radio yesterday for £138.99 and the PC100s for £74.99. Seeing as I didn't want to wait for them to be delivered and my nearest Road Radio is a little treck away, I managed to get Car audio security to price match and I collected today. Funnily enough, the ISN100s have gone from road radio now, so I recon I got in there with the price match just in time!

So the question is what sub to go for now. I have seen the other thread on here, some have the alpine and some have the focal i2.0. Any others I should be looking at?

Cheers

Ditto to that, have just fitted the same Focals into my 90 and although they are better, more bass is needed. I may well end up amplifying the Focals but defo need a sub as well.

As Ken said, you won't get bass from standard speaker sized replacements.
In an ideal world, you need an amp that runs a sub and get crossovers to separate the mid from the highs and run tweeters on the dash and use the standard speaker holes to run Focal mid or mid/highs.
I unplugged my standard speakers and put 2 6x9's in separate enclosures, used for mid range.
An iPhone has enough 'equalizer' settings in the music menu to find the ideal sound you prefer.

With it cranked up, it rattles your nose (as a passenger told me!). Though I never have it 'that' loud, it's just nice to have quality audio over the 'defender noise'.

I just installed speakers front and rear and this little Pioneer active sub on the back of the cubby: http://www.pioneer.eu/eur/products/25/131/201/TS-WX120A/page.html

Plenty of bass (up to max 125 Hz) - ideal if your speakers can go that low to 'meet' the sub's upper limit. 4" speakers are going to struggle to do that though, mine are high-passed at 200 hz and the 6.5"s in the rear cover the gap. At these frequencies it doesn't really matter where the speakers are, if you can adjust the timing of the signal from your head unit.
