Good places to buy a wheel and tyre combo (Mach 5 + KM2)
So after many weeks of sleepless nights wondering which wheel and tyre combination to go for, I have finally settled on:

MaxXtrac Mach 5 alloy (anthracite)
BF Goodrich KM2 285/75 R16.

which I *think* should just fit within the arches, look great, not be too noisy on road and not reduce my turning circle.

The next challenge is finding somewhere which will sell them. So far I have found the following vendors:

Devon 4x4: Wheel £168.05, Tyre £175.14

Silverline Wheels and Tyres: Wheel: Price not listed. Tyre not available.

4x4 Tyres: Wheel: Not listed. Tyre: £161.20

First Four: Wheel £154.80. Tyre: Not available

Simmonites: Wheel £164.00. Tyre: Price not listed

DLS: Wheel £154.80. Tyre not available.

Blackcircles, mytyres and Paddocks do not seem to sell the KM2 in the 285 size.

So it seems if I want a complete package of 5 wheels/tyres (+ nuts) Devon 4x4 or Simmonites are my only choice. Does anyone know if I've missed anyone obvious? A low price isn't the be all and end all - a quality reliable service from a reputable retailer is preferable.

I'd go for D44 myself, they aren't cheap but very good. Thumbs Up

I've not ordered from D44 before so don't have any experience of how good they are. I do have a question over their advert for the Mach 5 alloys though:

http://www.devon4x4.com/index.php?page=sho...;Itemid=14

which lists the offset as '-10mm'. All the other websites list it at +10mm, so I assume this is a mistake on D44's behalf - '-10mm' will be too much of a push out of the arch to fit I think. I'll give them a ring and find out.

Craddocks was a good shout which I had forgotten about. Unfortunately they don't do the Mach 5 (although they do the 17" Predator which I also quite like... Embarassed ). Their 285/75 R16 KM2s are £174.00.

Ring 4x4tyres.co.uk they are very helpful.

I'm sure they do their own Mach 5 lookalike in Steel and Alloy... Now: 2010 2.4 TDCi 110 Utility Wagon
Then: 2004 2.5 TD5 90 Hard Top (X-Tech Edition)

The Challenger' wheel offered by them which looks like a Mach 5 IMHO has a horrendous offset and are very poorly finished on both the welds and coating. Do not commit without seeing pictures of them fitted and/or seeing a set first.

From an older thread.....

The later style of Mach 5 when Matt Lee resurrected the manufacture of Mach 5s had the new shape centres that were no longer round. It was cheap copies that put him out of business in the end. The cheaper steel copy is the 'Challenger' wheel on which the spokes are not uniform, they flare towards the rim. They also have in my opinion the worse offset ever produced.

You are going for the same setup as me!! Alloy Mach 5 & 285 75 16!

I got the wheels from Devon 4x4 (D44) the only place with stock at the time.

^^^Love the setup and the colour. Thumbs Up Bow down

Just about to order some 305 KM2s for my refurbed Mach 5s. Have always been a white letter out person but I think you may have swayed me to place them innermost.

mmmm that looks awesome LandyBen! Great to see that they do actually fit before trying on the driveway...

I shall ring D44 this weekend. I just have to prevent myself buying all the other bits which they sell which i've been thinking about for a while. On the other hand it could save on postage.... Idea

Devon 4x4 & Gwyn Lewis are two of the best companies I have ever dealt with.

Remember you have to buy wheel nuts on top of the wheels!! More expense Shocked

Apparently the km2s are rare in our neck of the woods. The ones that still can get hold of them price them at around 280 euros (220 pounds).
