Ok

I have thought about this and rather than loads of pm's I will explain what I will be doing to safegaurd my next puma without giving away anything to thieving scroats.

1, protect or move your alarm horn/bbus, fit a metal box with sound holes over it or move it somewhere else away from the factory position.

2, Find the 2 wires that go to the n/s/f indicator, cut the coloured wire as far away from the indicator as possible and join some twin core wire to each end, run the wire into the cab and fit a hidden switch. Turn the switch off whenever you leave the defender parked....dont ask why, just do it

3, fit bolts to secure the under seat access panels,(battery and fuse boxes) use rivnuts into the seat box and bolts with round/torx/anti tamper heads and plenty of them.

4, If you dont want to move your alarm/bbus then fit some light gaurds with anti tamper bolts.

5, if possible park the front end against a wall.

Unless they come and winch it away, your puma will stay where it is if you follow these simple things....and no one will know you have done it Thumbs Up 2003 Td5 90

After my 57 plate 2.4 was attacked plenty of info on here re this, my solution was to fit led indicators all round and run 2.5amp fuses in the indicator systems and uprate the alarm ones to 15amp thieving scrotes can do what they like to my indicator wiring now. As for the seat boxes I have padlocked mine with small hasp and staples. If everything is under control you are not going fast enough.

Another cautionary note to all defender owners, Exclamation

Having dealt with many stolen recovered defenders and seeing cctv footage of defender thieves in action I would confidently say that a standard defender puma/td5 with a factory alarm can be stolen/ driven away in under 3 minutes easy.....how frightening a prospect is that Shocked

So for anyone debating extra security please please do it, spend a little bit of time and money and you should be able to hang on to your pride and joy no problem. Thumbs Up 2003 Td5 90
