Why not just emptying and cleaning them?
I did when this happened to me:

Brilliant vid. Seems a bit extreme to tip your Defender over in a river to make a film, but these things one must do in the name of art Laughing

Glad you got your truck back Thumbs Up

Great video Albert. Bow down

If you're ever in trouble again, let me know. If you can wait two days I shall drive down from France and join in the fun.

Not wishing to sound too soppy, but when a Defender goes through all that only to be recovered and brought back to life, it can only make it more cherished. Big Cry

Now I'm off to drive mine into a snow-filled gorge or something similarly....anyone up for a recovery? Thumbs Up Monsieur Le Grenadier

I've not been everywhere, but it's on my list.....

Hi,

Good video, glad you were able to breath some life back into it!

Can I ask what were the events leading up to it ending up on its side in a flooded river? Im interested as I deliver water rescue courses and am interested in the behavior of the vehicle?

Looking at some of the footage, I assume you were broadside to the flow, did it slew at all to face upstream?

Did it snag on something causing the roll over?

Were you stationary in the flow or was the force enough to roll it over as you were moving?

How did you/other occupants escape?

Any information you can give would be excellent, there is not an awful lot of first hand information on vehicle behavior in water as often sadly they involve fatalities.

Many Thanks

Chris

Hi Chris. First of all many thanks for your words.

it hit a stone and stayed there stationary. we tried to pull it out with the winch but the current was too strong. the two occupants got out out of the window and as you can see the driver was trying to let go the hook of the winch when he was on top of the bonnet. he couldnt so i let the cable go from my side of the winch. two min later the current took the car and hit a tree staying put there. we secured it with ropes and came back to collect it the next day.
now im going to post a new video about the refinishing of the engine. take a look at it if you like.

The behavior of this defender in water it's so good no electronics parts.

Regards.

Absolutely love this video! Very well done! Old Defenders NEVER die!!

Now who thinks we will be able to bring the new monocoque defender replacement back to life as easy?!

Not me! Laughing
