Lately I'm getting the idea the heater in the car cools down when I'm waiting at traffic lights or when I'm stuck in traffic jams. The car warms up immediately again when I'm at speed (higher revs).

Yes normal.
Use a radiator muff or plastic bag to cover part of the front grill to help regulate temperature. 1953 80" 1987 mini city e 2011 90" |

Normal. A bit of a pain when sat in traffic jams on cold winter evenings, on the plus side heated seats compensate a bit.

Mine is hotter on the left side than the right.Both sides are the same temperature when the heater is on full,but when I turn it down a bit,the right side is cooler than the left.
Also the lower vents never shut off completely,no mater what position the regulator dial is in.  |

Sharkey, believe here we really can say that they all do that. There even is a fix for it from LR, but that is for the courageous. Explained in below thread.

Well if you're afraid your better half tells you to sell the car make sure you get the fix. After the fix I sometimes have the idea the left hand side gets cooler than the right hand side.
 
Any other car and I'd probably parked the car on the counter of the service desk a year ago. Somehow, apart from all the quirks, I'm madly in love with my Defender. |

My Td5 was doing the same at long traffic lights. Double checked the coolant and it was low. Found a small hole in one of the hoses. Replaced the hose, topped up the coolant and it's been much warmer on a consistent basis.

Hi
Having the same temperature drop in cold morning traffic jam. Last day I was in traffic with -12°C and the temperature started to drop from 85°C down to 50°C...switching off the heating helped a bit but the coolant temperature was still dropping. Is it normal? If I am in Iceland with -20°C and I want to sleep in my idling Puma how I can survive? Cheers and happy new year! |
