I watched a couple of the old specials yesterday, the polar one and Bolivia, this wasn't a patch on these, I found the first episode quite boring.

Ah, but the scenery, could sit there all day watchin that !!!
Really not a fan of Clarkson or Hammond (had to google his first name, lol),No better or worse than any other "special",unfortunately (inc. Topgear), it's better than most of sh*tpumps offerings,at any time of the year. Thought it was a shame to waste such classic cars tho, the Mach 1 looked in good nick (I drove a Mach 1 (briefly,it was in the bodyshop being bodg...er, restored, (Y.T.S. Anyone remember them, lol)) in 1987, and a Lotus V8 that doesn't breakdown, that must be a first.Porsche's, I'll take them or leave them tho. Pov.spec,ftw. 2006, 110,TD5. |

Perhaps SONY should have made a film called ‘The Interview’ about two journalists May and Hammond being told to assassinate a well know, tall, slightly balding and overweight car journalist, now that’s a film I would like to see.

Always tickles me when I see this type of reaction (I've quoted yours as an example, there are others, so nothing personal) but which of these things actually surprises you? Does anyone really think they're there on their own or that it's not a setup? It's a massive budget light entertainment programme and has a crew etc to match. Folk really should stop getting their knickers in a twist about it and tune to Radio 3 or the Sky Arts channel if it's not highbrow enough |

I had a bit of a moment when I saw a pickup seemingly towing a D4 out of a river, then I realised everything was tied together.

Another thing I've noticed is that before the final river crossing the Dakar truck has significant damage - smashed screen, nearside window, mirror, etc, however in the shots where it has crossed and the other vehicles are crossing roped together it is completely pristine. The drone footage of the Punta Arenas ferry shows only one such vehicle (along with the three "star cars", six 4x4s, 3 lorries, 2 RVs, and something unidentifiable towing pink and blue portaloos). In addition to carrying masses of wheels on top the Dakar truck is towing what appears to be the 2CV sheeted on a trailer. So 16 vehicles and 2 trailers! There's a photo of the Dakar truck here Click image to enlarge Admin note: this post has had its images recovered from a money grabbing photo hosting site and reinstated |
