BB will be doing Beef Wellington and some Pork with all the trimmings I hate sprouts but she loves them I do
 all except keep the glasses topped up Sherry to start with followed by wine and beer. I won't be driving anywhere until the 27th so there's plenty of time to dry out.
Boxing day will entail a walk up to the village to watch the Wath Morris Men . Uncas |

Well, down here in Aus, the weather is a little less conducive to "hearty" meals on occasions, as it sometimes can be a little warm,....but we do our best.
I can remember the Christmas Dinner Mum used to prepare in England, Roast Chicken, on a big oval dish, surrounded by chippolatas (small sausage, spelt right?!), roast potatoes, roast parships etc , served with sprouts, peas, and of course Yorkshire puddings & lots of gravy. Then there was the Christmas pudding, with the sixpences placed inside, and lovely sauce. All this was preceded by a glass of sherry! So, I suppose we still do much the same, perhaps a little more wine of both the red & white varieties (not much of that when I was little),...and we've now got airconditioning to make the eating a little easier, if it does get hot. Oh, nearly forgot, lots of Christmas "Table Decorations" too, crackers, Christmas paper etc etc,...lots of happy memories. Something we always used to do in the UK when I was growing up was that we used to send a letter to Father Christmas, up the chimney, on tissue/toilet paper!!! Does that still happen? Can't do it in Aus, because most houses do not have chimneys, & even if they did, the fire would not be lit at this time! Pickles. |

Smoked salmon starter and turkey main followed by Christmas pud
We always do a traditional Christmas for the mother in law who is now in her 95th year - she loves it
Only down side, I am cooking the whole lot again, wouldn't be so bad but it is for twelve at the last count 
Best bit is if people start to bug me I threaten to lock myself in the kitchen with a bottle of scotch - and they know I will carry out my threat so I have a nice peaceful morning slaving over a hot stove

Let me think......Oh yes Thursday it either scrambled eggs or beans with toast.
What is the point of all the fuss when there is only the two of us and it feels just like another day. Don't make old people mad. We don't like being old in the first place, so it doesn't take much to us off.
