Temperature
My temperature gauge has never worked and no matter how I am driving it never moves. Do I need a new sender unit ? Is that possibly the problem ?

Could be the guage itself..

Not sure if the plug is the same as the fuel guage one.... try swaping them over and see if the fuel guage moves instead, could eliminate it.

When you say it doesnt work, what do you mean? It just stays at the bottom and needle never moves? Or always just sits at half way?

Staying at half way is normal, then if it ever goes above it just goes straight into the red putting engine in limp mode.

If no move at all have you tried just shorting the cable to the sender and seeing if gauge moves?

you could always take out the sender unit and dip it in hot water vs when its cold.. stick a multimeter on it and see if its playing as expected .....

I had an issue with having the wrong ECU so my temp gauge worked in reverse... I'd already replaced the sender before checking the forum... doh!!

In TD5 the sensor is connected to engine ECU, and output of the ECU is connected to gauge. With nanocom you can test the sensor - ECU will show you the engine temperature, and also check the gauge. Do it before changing any parts.

In case the engine ECU is configured for Discovery2, instead of Defender, the temperature gauge works in reverse, not a big problem, but the throttle works much worse - wery sensitive on the beginning, and it makse the ride not comfortable. "Drobek" = The Small One - Discovery 2, "BlufĂnek" = The Blue Thing - Defender 130, and for me at least Ford Mondeo Smile
