How do you keep yours dry
Every time I go out for a bit a wading I end up with four goldfish bowls for headlights/spotlights. I have tried sealing them with sealant around the bulbs but that didn't really seem to work. How do you keep the water out or is it a case of drilling a small hole in the bottom to let it drain out once it's got in? 2015 RRS Autobiography SDV6

If you don't mind having near useless headlights you could fit sealed beam units ! 2005 Td5 90 XS

Yep. That's what I've done. Spent ages trying to keep water out, then went the other way. Drilled a hole in bottom of light and let it run out.

Andy, how does that work, is the chrome still ok? What size hole did you drill?

Lou, having done the wiring mod and fitted crystal headlights with night breaker bulbs, I'd rather not go that way, although I wonder what they would be like with the wiring mod, anyone done that? 2015 RRS Autobiography SDV6

I've drilled 3-4 mm holes at the bottom of the headlights. First time I did it through the front lens of the crystal headlight, but once in very heavy rain and spray water entered the holes and blew both bulbs. So I now drill through from the rear.

I run crystals, and night breaker bulbs, not yet rewired them, but don't understand why that would make any difference. The only thing to remember is to turn off lights before wading, so bulbs are not hot.

With standard wiring I was getting about 10.5 volts at the bulb, with the wiring mod I now get about 13.5 volts. 2015 RRS Autobiography SDV6

Why would that effect holes in the bottom of the lights, is the bit I don't understand?
