Absolutely fantastic, you've convinced me, I'm going ASAP, just need to decide whether to take the camper van or the Defender, ah, that was easy, the Defender!

October was pretty good for me as it was fairly quiet, and was really lucky with the weather. That said, it was right at the end of the season, so a few places were closed - think September is the last month you can go if you want to guarantee everything will be open.

Sure some of our Scottish members on here will be able to give you a better idea... 2013 Defender 110 XS DCPU

Without wishing to hijack your thread I've posted some pics of our fantastic two weeks in September up around the Western Isles when we towed our rib up and based ourselves at Resipole on Loch Sunart, taking in the Ardnamurchan Peninsula, Sound of Mull, Tobermory, Oban etc, etc.

Not a single drop of rain for two weeks....and some of the freshest, most wonderful seafood I've ever eaten including some scallops that were in the pan 30 minutes after leaving the seabed. Awesome.

On the way home we stopped for a couple of days on Loch Lomond to flush the Rib engine through with fresh water...
