RIBBED STEERING GUARD LR008247

Anyone fitted the Genuine ribbed steering guard (LR008247) to an early 90 (1986) or is it not compatible?

The description states 2007 onwards but I don't know what the differences are and for all I know it could just be that an extra spacer or longer bolt is required or has there been a significant re-design underneath?
