England 2001 Defender 90 Td5 X-Tech LE Blenheim Silver
Extreme 4x4 Challenge Dampers
hi has anyone got any reviews on these dampers provided by Extreme 4x4 please

http://www.extreme4x4.co.uk/acatalog/EXTRE...echallenge

I'm mainly using my 90 TD5 on road and wish to replace the original dampers but stuck for choice

i will be at some stage wanting to replace the springs as i found the rear far too bouncy as standard, dropping the rear tyre pressure down to 34psi has helped a lot but it's still bouncy

Thanks

Yup, fitted the Extreme 4x4 challenge dampers in the link.

Slight pain in that you have to secure the rubber gaiters with cable ties yourself.

My view on a Puma 110 was that they were better than standard (damped better, less bouncy) but not as good as the De Carbons on my 110 Td5, which seemed at bit softer also with better damping.

Beefed up anti-roll bar (Extreme again) was an improvement though. Less body roll.

One huge factor in comfort is tyre pressure. Mine were about 50psi rear, much nicer at 30-odd all round. 2003 Td5 110 Hardtop

Do you find the outside grips on the tyres wearing a bit with the lower pressure ?

Not that I've noticed.

Even at those pressures, the side wall is not that bowed-out.

There must come a point though where it does happen but they do seem to be pretty strong obvs.

I've run BF Goodrich All Terrain and Continentals, although the latter probably not long enough to be able to tell tbh. 2003 Td5 110 Hardtop
