Axle Breather Tubes
Hi Folks,

Where do they terminate??

One end is connected to the axle, but where does the other end normally get secured (factory position)?

Am looking at extending or replacing and routing into the engine bay so it can run up the snorkel side.

In the engine bay, I can see two hoses, which as I understand is the g/box and transfer box.

Not sure if mine are factory or not, but the tubes terminate by the air box. 1999 Defender TD5 110

Near the EGR, two looped ends (think walking stick shape) between the EGR and OS wing. Near a black bracket.

Hi, do they terminate into the air box?

I know that the two "hooked" ones in the engine bay are the T/box and g/box.......but maybe I'm wrong?

I always thought they were axle breathers, you can trace them from underneath.

On my TD5 the G/box and T/Box breathers appear behind the head- a pair together.

The axles, Front one appears slightly inboard and below the airbox, the rear was tucked up under the rear seat box somewhere.

The rear axle one is usually located in the back of the N/S/R wheel arch, and I think it has a one-way valve on it. Pete
