What's even more fun is that it's in the garage now...

getting injector seals, rear diff seal and eng/trans shaft done as well as the clutch so it may well be great for a day or 2 but we only have ourselves to blame, its not like we expected 100% reliability

It must be a 90 thing, oh and a Puma thing that clutches don't last. Go and get yourselves back into a Td5 of a proper length. My 110 Td5 is still driving along on its original clutch at 168,000 miles and 12 years after it left the factory

to be honest graffty the tune seems to be the answer as most common educated opinions think it smooths out the torque which is probably the cause , i am open to other ideas though

My original lasted for what, 125,000! And then it only got replaced because I had access, it didn't really need doing at all. An engine to TDi for!

At least I think it's the clutch, maybe it's the splined shaft.
Either way a wallet bashing is in the pipeline, a severe one. I was told "You are aware that it is a big job" I think I already knew that, if it wasn't I would probably have a go myself. But I'm not one to bite off more than I can chew. The flywheel comes into all of this too which another thing. |

I use a good indie guy called Simon Huntington from Wigton in cumbria (highly recommended ) he told me about 4hrs for a clutch give or take 1/2hr its not that big a job , you can do it on the drive with a trolley jack (I've done it ), the spline shaft on mine is only a precaution prob just a grease and put back together. I only do things i have to do now after i used him to put injector seals in my td5 bill was under £100 , good indie garages are worth their weight imo

The splined shaft seems to be pot luck with different manufacture dates, I've asked them to check and grease anyway.
