Same size tyres shouldn't make a difference. 255.85.16 which would fit on boast alloys would give a bit of lift, which might be too much for your garage.

Depends on the tyres/wheels you put on....
Perhaps you could consider using smaller wheels but with a more off-road bias? I have my S2A on 15" wheels but with a mud terrain tyre. 1970 Series 2A 88" |

I went from 16" standard boosts reduced the wheel size down to 15" and went for wider tyres with a larger profile but kept exactly the same rolling radius which doesn't alter the height at all. Exactly as Luke suggested above.

Bear in mind that the taller the tyre the more traction you have because you get traction from the contact length...
You can (within reason, depending on tread etc) work out the height of a tyre from the numbers on it. "Stock" tyres on boosts are 235/85 R16, which means the tread with is 235mm, the sidewall height is 85% of 235 = 199.75mm and the wheel diameter is 16". So that's a total of 400mm+16"=31.7" or 80.6cm. If you stuck with mud (or more aggressive AT) tyres of the same size you won't change much in height. If you go to 255/85 R16 you go up to 33" overall height (so the axle goes up half the difference). A 265/75 R16 is marginally shorter than the 235/85 and the 285/75 is marginally shorter than the 255/85. Obviously tyre pressures and how much of a bulge at the bottom you have makes a difference. |

Also in addition to the above you need to watch out with remoudling off road tyres as they are usually taller than what they say on the tyre wall. Especially true of Insa Turbos. e.g if you work out the size of a 285/76/16 tyre its about 33" tall, whereas the same size Insa Turbo is more like 34"
