One for the nerds... Identify this?
just got back from botswana, had a great time being ferried around the flooded deltas and sandy trails in one of these: even got a drive.

but what model/year is it? anyone guess its story? hint: it was delivered by land rover South Africa exactly as it is (except safari cage and fold down windscreen), in 2010. (hasn't been modified. dash, lights, indicators, crossmember etc all original.)

have fun Thumbs Up

None of you particularly close in afraid...

Yes it's a 110 (not a 130)

It is a td5 chassis which was obviously knocking around for land rover SA to access in 2010. And it's been "de-specced" as part of a batch of around 20 produced with factory 300tdi engines!

Therefore has new indicators, chassis, interior, dash etc but had heater, engine, ECU etc replaced with 300tdi running gear.

Had me really stumped at first! Perfect for deep water stuff they have here though, td5s can't cope with the water on the ECU (or the shoddy diesel in the tank!)

And then it's obviously been modified with a big seating cage and old school fold down windscreen to make it a game viewer.

They have 10 of these and they're just the job. They tried land cruisers a while back apparently but they could cope with the deep wading day in, day out. Also parts are apparently much easier to come by at a reasonable price.

However the rest of the country barely has a vehicle that isn't a land cruiser... You find 90% of vehicles in car parks are cruisers... Cheers, David

Did it have the Td5 type electronic speedo or the old Tdi mechanical one? An engine to TDi for!

The tdi one, with no revometer.

Drove so nicely, and so bulletproof that it even made me think about what fitting a 300tdi into a puma body/interior would involve! Ha Cheers, David

As Paul says, the "5V" before the last 6 numbers gives away that it is a 2005 model, built in South Africa.  1988 90 Td5 NAS soft top
