Can a Series 3 take H4 bulbs, with mods if necessary?
I would like to fit my prospective Series 3 with H4 bulbs. Would I need to change the fuse, use a more powerful battery &/or anything else? Land Rover Defenders. 67 years heritage, minimal appearance changes, still going strong all over the world. Quite a common upgrade, when I had my series 3 all I had to do was remove the sealed beam headlights and fit halogen units in there place.

They are basically a plug and play upgrade. All you need to do is buy the '7" Halogen upgrade kit', which most parts suppliers sell, eBay, classic car specialists etc.

eg: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/LAND-ROVER-SERIE...3a74a672d3

And then remove the old sealed beam headlamps, and fit these in place of them and plug the connector straight on. You may want to have a look to see what condition the headlight retainers/bowls are like, as they may need replacing if they are badly corroded. Pete

I have my OE Defender ones after fitting the Wipac clear lens type (latter would look too modern). Would they do with H4s? Land Rover Defenders. 67 years heritage, minimal appearance changes, still going strong all over the world. Not a fashion vehicle, but fashionable to own.
