Converting my 90 to rear disc brakes
Hi guys

I am thinking of converting my 1988 90 2.5TD ( 200TDI ) to rear disc brakes and just want to know is there convertion kits out there to do this or am i best off buying a s/h disco rear axle to re-build and fit to my 90 and is it a direct fit or do i need to do anything before hand to do to my 90 first Smile Graham

I think the easiest and cheapest is to take an disco rear axle.
It should be a straight fit. The only thing I am not sure off is the brake force regulator. That is located below the brake mastercylinder on the chassis I believe. Roel

Just stick on an ex disco or 90 rear axle.

Don't think you can convert the axle, as there's no tabs to bolt the calipers on to (and the Salisbury bracket won't fit the 90 axle)

You should be able to pick a whole axle up for not much money.

Neutral If you fit a 300 tdi Disco axle you will need a drive flange for the diff as the Disco has the rubber donut.

D'OH! forogt about that!

Yes, once you get the disco 3 pronged flange off (undo the bolt in the middle, get a puller or slide hammer and pull the flange off), you'll need a small spacer to fit in behind the flange. Ashcrofts sell these, although sometimes they come with the flange (if you've bought a new one). Might be one in your existing diff.

Another thought.... when you pull your old axle off, have a check at the diff that's in it... you might be lucky and have a 4pinion HD diff (with 24spline halfshafts), in which case you'd be better off swapping the whole diff over.

Graham fit a new seal with the flange. 300 tdi axles are 34 spline.
