Drop Down Tailgate seal
Our TD5 DCPU did not have any seals or buffers on it's drop down tailgate when we bought it. I have since fitted the buffers so it closes correctly and doesnt rattle.

I have also bought a new lower seal which has three holes punched in it for mounting, the parts diagram shows rivets should hold it on but there is no evidence of holes in our tailgate for rivets or screws. Therefore i am not sure to which surface or which direction the seal should be fitted. Would someone mind taking a few pictures of the seal on their own tailgate please?

I also need the seals for the sides of the tailgate, these seem a little pricey at £12 each, I take it that it is the same profile as the normal door seal as fitted to hard tops, therefore I can just cut down a hard top seal?

Cheers

Hi Steve,

I used an old door seal on the 90 tailgate when I changed the door seals. It does work, but it does make it quite a force to close unless you start and inch or 2 up from the bottom.

I'm guessing OEM may be a different shape and maybe have a tapered profile etc?

Doesn't quite look as tidy, but like I say, it does work and for me, it was free! So I was happy!

Thanks both,
Although im not sure if that bottom seal is the same as the one I have, I was thinking it fitted onto the tailgate itself not the body! That is sort of what it looks like on the parts diagram:

I will have another look this evening about fitting to the tub instead Smile
