I have used the Premier Inn which is right next to the Oracle center, there is parking round the back, buts its first come first served. Otherwise you can park in the multi-story in the Oracle overnight - don't think the rates are too high...

My Defender won't fit in any of the multi-story car parks in Reading as it has a roof rack...

Just thought it was worth mentioning Smile

thanks both.

Prem Inn is almost £100 for bed only and thought I might get a better deal at a local b&b ?

Wow it was £30 when I was there last December, but I did book a couple of months in advance...

You are welcome to park in my drive, I would even box your Defender in (and we have a sensor that audibly detects any movement), but we are 2.5 miles out from the town centre, that is the only problem. Now left.

what puddle.

many thanks for your very kind offer. I do have safe parking available in the centre already and as I understand it the travel lodge is only 10 mins walk away so I'll leave my car there.
Thumbs Up
thanks again tho.

You're welcome. Be wary of late evenings, especially Fridays and Saturdays - it can be a little Wild West sometimes. Watch out for the town centre exclusion to cars (it is easy to wander past the signs), and be careful not to stray into the bus lanes - you get fined by post. It's not a friendly town, though I guess you have been here before, and most certainly not car-friendly. The council is stark raving mad, but the choice of shops is good. Now left.

thanks very much for the useful info which kind of confirms I should stick with original plan.

hide car in underground private car park - do my day job. go grab a meal, then off to lidl for some beer and nuts then lock myself in the hotel for the evening and crack on with WORK again Sad

as you've guessed. I've been there before and will simply stick to what / where I know in terms of driving.
Thumbs Up
