bolting to underside of mid row seats
Anyone successfully bolted anything to the underside of middle row seats?

I'm looking to fix a small 5 kg sub woofer and the underside of seats seems like a good place to 'loose ' it.

Any suggestions on how to do it.....is the plastic / pressed felt cover strong enough? the fixing centres are approx 150mm apart.

Also. I need to.run cables from battery box and adjacent clutch pedal to seats (drivers side) - was thinking of running along chassis and up via rear lights / rear speakers (drivers side) and then forward to mid row seats?

Enjoy the weekend all.

Check out the darthfender 110 td5 thread by tiger. He fitted tdci middle row seats and bolted a sub underneath, I'm looking for a decent active sub to put there at the mo.

Edit: he put an amp under his seat and it's on page 5

I fitted an inphase usw10 sub under the second row seats. I had to slide a steel plate with suitable holes into the frame of the seat to bolt on to. I'll try and take some pics. Sounds ok to fill, you notice when it's not there.

Indigo. Would be very interested to see photos - the isw10 who I've bought and did a temp install earlier and thought it was a vast improvement Thumbs Up

Sorry, took a while. Perhaps you have sorted it by now.

Here are some pics of the subwoofer bolted to the underside of the second row seats. I removed the trim piece, found a piece of thin (1mm-ish) steel and slid it under the wires that hold the seat foam in place (very snug, took a bit of persuasion). I had drilled some holes in this plate to match the mounting holes of the subwoofer. The refitted trim and made holes through trim to match and bolted the lot together.

I wanted it fixed to the seats so that when they were folded completely forward the whole load space was available.

Cables were originally in sleeving and tied to dog guard.

Well, it's not going to give the Saxo boys a run for their money, but it fills out the bass from the small 10 cm speakers at front and back. Using the remote control you can adjust the bass level and with it turned right down it is noticeable by its absence. Turned right up it's a little boomy.

Overall, I'm happy, considering the relatively small cost and no space sacrificed.

Indigo....or anyone else for that matter.

I wonder if you can help with some dimensions (just being lazy). to save me taking cover off seat, can anyone give me dimensions of where the steel support runs under seat / above cover so I can drill a couple of holes at approx. 350mm centres (front to back.... or left to right for that matter wherever the steel frame runs)?

Hoping to install a couple of captive nuts without removing the seat base cover - hope that makes sense?

many thanks,
