salisbury rear diff
I have searched the Internet and failed to find a supplier of recon Salisbury diffs.

I have one on the back of my 110 and it is definitely getting clunky. I am going to invest in a diff gasket and pop the back off it to see if I can glean anything but if I do find wear in there is it possible to rebuild at home?

I am aware that you need to spread the casing to get it out and that's not too much of a problem but no one seems to know much about them. Is there a rebuild manual online somewhere?

I'm in the same boat, only place I could find that does a rebuilt Salisbury was Simmonites but they are expensive.

I couldn't even find them on their website to be honest.

I wouldn't mind having a go rebuilding it myself but as yet I haven't found a suitable rebuilt manual.

I'm googling myself half to death here........

I once had a notion I was going to rebuild my Sals. New bearings, Detroit locker, seals, how hard can it be. Well pulling it apart wasn't hard, no need to spread the casting, just a encouraging tug. Insert locker no probes, fit bearings and seals all good. However setting the shims on either side of the carrier bearings, and shim and pre load the pinion, and make it all mesh correctly, reliably, and quietly no way. Perhaps it you really have your head around gears and a good set up. But in the end I am happy with what the diff lapping shop charged, piece of mine if anything.

good luck with it. It's a good experience regardless and helps with understanding the guts of the diff and the complexities.
