1999 Defender 90 Td5 HT Rioja Red
fitting soft top
hi,

how hard is it to change a truck cab 90 to a soft top, is it a diy job or best left to an expert?
how long should it take a novice to do?

Easy, 30 mins max to get the cab off, then soft top on, everything is there. Only issue will be seat belt mountings.

I'm having a problem with getting the header rail fitted.. the clamps aren't long enough to go through the windscreen and the rail and yet they seem to be the only ones available (standard fit)... otherwise its easy.

I seem to remember I had a problem like this when I fitted one, it does fit, but it needs playing with, sorry but persevere!

Like Lee says they fit but take a bit of jiggling, get them all on loose before you tighten anything Very Happy Defender puma dormobile camper

Can anyone take some close up pictures of the corners and the clamps to check I'm doing it properly.. did anyone need to drill holes??

Is yours a clamp down earlier header rail or a push in td5/ puma one? I have the push in one so pics of mine wont help by the sounds of it Defender puma dormobile camper

Thanks all, going to choose one to buy, currently a truck cab but had a look at nene overland today and loved the soft top look. Going to speedliner the rear as well.

Fulfat. Not wanting to put you off. but take it youve driven a soft top defender.
I dont have an issue with it and the extra practicality makes up for it with me but a lot hate them, its certainly noisy, Try one first if you havent Thumbs Up Defender puma dormobile camper
