1991 Defender 110 200 Tdi USW Arles Blue

Progresive Spring Question.

Hi Guys,

Bit of an odd one here but bear with me.

Had a pair of +2" Bearmach Blues on the front of my 110 and was unsatisfied with the harsh ride it gave.

I bought a pair of 90 Rear HD springs (Front HD 110 springs) from LRI Solutions (a while back

) and have fitted them today with some spring isolators.

However, upon removing all the jacks and axle stands and standing back with a broad grin covered in brake dust and grime with a cup of tea and exclaimed "oh bother, thats incorrect" (or words to that effect)

With one side still on blue spring and the other with the new replacement the replacement's progressive section (the tighter coils at the top) were all closed up solid.

Quick head scratch and phone call to Matt at FCX confirmed what I had suspected so decided to pop the other one in and see it that levels it out.

Everything levels out but the progressive bit is still clamped down.

I suspect it can be 1 of 3 things:

1. Earlyer 110's heavier than pumas so it is overcoming the progressive bit?

2. I put it in upside down (progressive bit goes at the top right?)

3. Wrong springs.

Does anyone think it will actually make a difference?

What do modern 110's with winches fitted have on the front spring wise?

I was on the very same duty today. Mine are quite new (10 kkm) and look the same. Maybe they are progressive on rebound and not compression
