Well thanks to welsh gas, that's solved my heated hand brake lever problem, off to find some metal and a few bits and bobs.
I was thinking of using some night heater exhaust pipe or some plastic convoluted tubing from the vent and placing it along the base of the dash to do the job.
Don`t really mind the hot heater thing as long as my feet are warm I`am not to fussed about the control knob I`am just one of those people who likes to have warm feet ...

Another thing on the list will I ever get my garage tidy Big Cry

Thanks for all the input. Have been busy and as the wife is the main driver, haven't gotten to it...plus it snowed yesterday so a little extra heat doesn't hurt much...thanks to Merlin for the part number and price...and Blackwolf for the long write up and link. When I get it sorted, I will update,

so Finally got a look under the hood this last weekend.
seems like the advice was pretty spot on. The cable that works a valve is not moving like it should so with some wd 40 it has helped a bit, will need to get something long term done before the real heat in the summer hits. Thanks again 2008 Defender 110 60 year Edition (sold unfortunately)

Warning.
Out of interest, although I'm quit happy with the heater function, I decided to check that the under bonnet control valve moved fully in relation to the console temperature selected control. It did, BUT, I noticed there was a leak from the seal in the centre of the valve when the Cold setting was selected. No leak on Hot. Lucky find before I start selecting cooler temperatures or our camping holiday to the Continent. Will be fixed next week.
Something to check. Whistle Whistle LANDYWATCH
