Soft Top questions
I'm thinking about an Exmoor or All Wheel Trim soft top conversion on my pick up (1989 model)

Has anyone got any idea about how much noisier(!!) it will be, and if it changes the insurance by much? I guess the insurance cost will increase but just wondered by roughly how much. Ta

There will be an increase in noise but it shouldn't be too bad, the canvas can make noise against the sticks at speed but I have never found it a real issue.
A properly fitting soft-top is warmer than an un-lined hard-top and with the addition of a fume-curtain is as snug as a truck-cab.
With regards to insurance just ask your insurer, LR made & sold soft-tops so as long as you are using standard parts it doesn't usually make any difference at all but not all insurers are the same SO ASK THEM DIRECT.

I have been running soft-tops as my daily driver for over 20-years now and don't miss my old hard-tops or truck-cabs at all. Looked after the canvas is long-lasting as well, my current one is 11-years old and I treated it with Fabsil for the first time only last year and now it is as good as new again. ONE LIFE, GET IT!

Thanks Litch, sounds good so far, my roof lining could do with replacing and so could the felt in the sliding rear windows, by the time I've laid out for those plus a tonneau cover I won't be far of the cost of a conversion, £575 from All Wheel Trim sounds good value for the kit if I've got it right. Thanks for the info.

Next question...

Has anyone bought a soft top or tilt from All Wheel Trim or Exmoor? There is a fair price difference between the two, is it worth paying the extra for Exmoor?

I'd go with All Wheel Trim - been very happy with my AWT hood and have got another to go on when the weather cheers up Mr. Green  1988 90 Td5 NAS soft top

I've got an exmoor one on mine. I spoke to both companies and they were very helpful.
No issues with any hoods ive had from exmoor and will get another for my next one. Both makers are fantastic products though so dont think you'll regret which ever choice you make Thumbs Up Defender puma dormobile camper
