I stripped down an air rifle on the dining table the other day...I'm not a complete heathen though, I did remove the table cloth first!

i have an r380, a diff lock rebuild and a 1.22 gearset going in in my bedroom, also this is where i keep my ms 880 coz it could get nicked!! My bedroom is the only one upstairs in our house, so i get the luxury of space!!

I am rebuilding a very old and very large steam crane, and as a result my kitchen has seen a range of unusual overhauls (steam turbogenerator, injectors, feed pumps etc). It was interesting getting the overhauled bottom block/hook assembly out after overhaul - it weighs about a ton (and the kitchen floor now dips down towards the middle for some reason)!
Think how dull the world would be if we were all "normal" though. |

In the past I have rebuilt a series 3 petrol engine and a rover P6 V8 engine in the dining room on a make shift engine stand

My girlfriend is all set to move in once I get back home on leave, so the days of my house being used as a garage annexe are sadly numbered.
She has mentioned that the two outboards motors in the downstairs toilet will be the first to go. Followed by the dinghy mast and rigging at the side of the stairs (too long for the garage) and set of sails from the wardrobe. She wasn't too impressed either when I found my mini traction engine in the loft, dusted it off, lit it up, raised steam and had it chugging around the lounge. She does though quite like the idea of me trading in my car for a Defender, so not all bad!!! |

Reading the above remind me of something that happened years ago.
My dad bought a 1950 Ford Prefect as his first family car (they only came in Black), typical dad bought it when there was about 8" of snow on the ground and it was minus 5 or so it seemed to a child of 8 years. The car wouldn't start so dad and the next door neighbours pushed the car for a mile or so with me sitting on a cushion steering. It ends up parked on the side of the road outside the house, dad goes at the engine with his set of tools which comprised of a large and small stilsons and comes back in with the spark plugs and distributor and put them in the gas oven. the car is left on the side of the road for as snow was to deep to drive in. Two days later its Sunday and mam lights up the oven and pops in the joint of beef after an hour or so she starts to complain about the smell in the kitchen, Dad has this light bulb moment jumps to his feet runs into the kitchen and recovers the bits from the Ford that he forgot to remove from the oven. Don't make old people mad. We don't like being old in the first place, so it doesn't take much to  us off.
