I toured a fair amount of Norway in the summer about ten years ago and, to be honest, you don't need much of anything beyond regular camping gear. The roads and tracks are good and the weather is mild (mostly). Darren

First bit of prep is to sign up and get to know some of the lads on NLRK.org.
They have a Landstreff end of July/early August well worth going to and making friends. Ask questions on NLRK, offer to take any hard to get spares out with you. That way you get a possible local helpline if you need it. Travelling in Norway is great although it can be slow going. Brendan |

In the summer, look out for the average speed cameras.
Expect some road toll bills in the post when you return. Summer roads in Norway are busy with traffic and wildlife. PM me and I can send you a spares list. Wild camping is free (it's about the only thing that is free there) Take lots of NOKS and a good camera ... it's a beautiful country and well worth spending time enjoying the nature. Norwegians are lucky people  - I'm hoping to go back in 2014 |

As much as I can. In May they have a lot of red days which are bank holidays so I was going to take the opportunity to explore a bit. I have a mate in Oslo who's dad works for the forestry commission and may let us use one of there tracks but he said as long as we have land rovers and nothing else

Ah, we went in June and the place was very quiet. It appeared to be their closed season. We did a circuit through the interior, starting at Stavenger and finishing at Bergen. The south part of the country is pleasant enough but if you like your scenery steep and spectacular then head further north.

Nice photos - can fully recommend Norway as a destination. Travelling up North does take some time though, so if that's your plan leave plenty of time to do it.
Plenty of spectacular fjords to see and some are best seen from the deck of a car ferry. There's also plenty of cabins to stay in if you don't fancy breaking out the tent. |
