DPF warning symbols on a 2.4TDCi
I took my instrument cluster apart this morning to investigate the apparently unused space below the fuel and temp guages, with a view to filling it with some form of useful information. Possibly Int/Ext temp or TPMS.

I found there are 2 LEDs and symbols for what appear to be DPF warning symbols.

My Defender is a late 2010 model with the 2.4 engine, so is it safe to assume these lights will never come on, or should I make provisions for them on whatever I end up making?

Cheers,

Mark

Is it possible to whip out the LEDs and use a multimeter across the terminals to check the resistive reading of any circuit? Alternatively just leave whatever is attached to the LEDs stored behind the dash and use the vacant space anyway. That way you can always revert back very easily should the need arise later.
They're not used on my 08 2.4 and I don't know if the LEDs are even there! If you go through life with your head in the sand....all people will see is an ar5e!!

I'm fairly confident to suggest NONE of the 2.4's have dpfs.

Are you sure Caterham? Could be your DPF is goosed and the lights are inoperative, you may have an issue that needs looking at utilising lots of your time?

Just for clarity NO DPF or system monitoring functionality on a 2.4. Thumbs Up If you go through life with your head in the sand....all people will see is an ar5e!!

Shocked

I knew something wasn't quite right .... having checked in my V5 mines actually a 2.402. perhaps mine does therefore have a dpf Big Cry

I need to get it to the dealers before warranty runs out for a couple of other things door lock and fuel breather pipe. I'll ask them to check out the dpf and warning lights.

Thud

and I thought everything was going well ? Big Cry

not only did I very nearly loose my sense of humour but my marbles too.

- one of the best was taking the regional LR technician, service manage and work shop manage out for a drive only to be told that the noises were normal / characteristic.

that night I find heat shield bolts and heat shield brackets missing shortly before the gearbox failed !

sorry - OFF TOPIC.

but as you say all good now. Thumbs Up

Reading my owner's handbook, there is an over-speed (120 km/h) warning light that comes on for Defenders used in the Gulf States, its in the bottom right corner (pages 47 & 49). Land Rover Defenders. 67 years heritage, minimal appearance changes, still going strong all over the world. Not a fashion vehicle, but fashionable to own. Made for the needy, not the greedy. Ta ta Defender
