What is that round thing next to right side door? Is that just a sticker?

That's the fuel filler for the 45L auxiliary fuel tank, which sits underneath the driver. Gives us a total of 105L and a range of 1000km for overlanding Smile

EMS2

Naks ... EMS2 seems to be a good tool. How/where did you fit the EGT sensor?

Paul, EMS2 is a really good monitoring system to have! It gives me EGT, Coolant Temp, Oil Pressure, and has an alarm for the Coolant level. I also chose to monitor the transfer box oil temperature instead of the engine oil temperature.

The EGT sensor is located on the exhaust manifold, just before the turbo. You will have to drill and tap the manifold to insert the probe.

In my Disco2, I just put it on the EGR blanking plate, but that location is not ideal, since you don't the the temperature of the exhaust gases just before they enter the turbo.

I did not do the installation myself, I left that to the experts, but here's a picture of where the probe goes in:

Ok, I see ... did they remove the manifold? What about chipping?

AFAIK, there's no removal involved. The only precaution is to start the engine and let it idle while you drill so that the metal filings don't end up in the turbo.

No chipping: 1. it voids your warranty, and 2. climatic conditions in SA mean warmer temps, hence higher EGT's, and the quality of diesel is not great.
