Ok.......
Firstly, apologies for taking so long to update this thread. Have been extremely busy working, planning, building etc. So here goes..... Thanks to Andover Landrover we installed a new galvanised bulkhead. Looks good with the newly refurbished white wolf wheels. Click image to enlarge Excellent work! Click image to enlarge We found this quadtech box on ebay. It has a very interesting 'rubber hinge' system for the doors which i have never seen before. It was in near mint condition, and after talking to the sellers we found that they had originally purchased it to chop up and use as a trailer. I am so glad they didnt start! Their son had lost interest and we managed to get the box at an extremely good price! It was advertised as a unit which had been used as a demonstration unit for the military. I would love to know a little more about this so if anyone can shed any light on this it would be very interesting Click image to enlarge The box weighs a tonne! (probable not literally having not weighed it) but needless to say, it was going to take considerably more than the three of us to lift the box onto a trailer in order to transport it to Snoopys location! Many thanks to Wheelers of Bridgwater who provided the means to make the job much easier! Click image to enlarge We reversed Snoopy out of the workshop at Causeway 4x4 in order to make him ready to receive his new rear end Click image to enlarge Was great to see this awesome crane at work! Made light work of the quadtech.....now we just needed to get it into the correct position. Many hands make light work! Click image to enlarge Click image to enlarge Click image to enlarge Finally, we managed o ease the box into its correct position.... Does my bum look big in this? Click image to enlarge Back end done for now, it was time to turn our attentions to the face of Snoopy. An uprated radiator and intercooler from Andrew at Allisport will increase the performance and economy and should make Snoopy a little more useable Click image to enlarge The front end is further enhanced thanks to Peter at First Four by this fantastic winch bumper! It really is a very well made bit of kit and, teamed with our powerful T- Max winch donated by Bearmach gives us every chance of being able to self recover Snoopy should we need to, or even render assistance to others should the need arise Click image to enlarge The location of the light guards had to be modified slightly in order to get everything to fit as it should. This meant we were left with holes where the guards were originally fitted. What to do?? Fill and repaint the wing?? No! Was an excuse to fit another sponsored part, some lovely little LED DRL's. Never seen a setup like this but made good use of the holes to pass wiring through and looks great IMHO! Bright too! Click image to enlarge I think you will agree.... an impressive beast from this angle! Click image to enlarge Then it was off to Ash at AB Bodyworx in Bridgwater to paint the quadtech in Snoopys trademark solid white! Always amazes me how much a bit of paint makes such a difference! Click image to enlarge We are a little further on than this now. We will be working on Snoopy all day tomorrow (Friday), and all week next week at Causeway 4x4 in order to make a push to get him up and running. Drive4Change will have a stand at the Bristol and West Landrover Show at the Bath and West showground on the 22nd and 23rd of June. Please feel free to come and say hi Will update with more pictures as we take them! www.drive4change.co.uk |
