I deliberately ordered a County for my current 90 as I did not want air con, I just open a window if I get too hot

I like the a/c in mine. Cool inside & keeps bugs out, safety aspect when they all want to bite & sting me.
But I'd go back to winders if I had a choice. Electric windows are neat, but not good for escape in a crisis. Land Rover Defenders. 67 years heritage, minimal appearance changes, still going strong all over the world. Not a fashion vehicle, but fashionable to own. Made for the needy, not the greedy. Air con is not a Puma feature in particular. Not sure when it first came in on Defenders but it has been an option since at least td5s, so you will see some with, some without, regardless whether it is a working one, or otherwise. Really the major thing with a Puma is just the change of engine and a few other tweaks, but are not that many features on Puma Defenders that are unique to Pumas, pretty much as the later Td5s... bodywork differences just bonnet bulge and lack of front opening vents, can't think of any others that are just Puma bits - but there may be an odd thing here and there.
Geekier, but not geeky enough yet .. don't worry, takes time.... I used to run a 1989 Range Rover and within a couple of years could spot the differences on different ages of RR, things like bonnet hinges, interior trim, door handles, fuel fillers, etc.... here's a geeky question ... is there a difference between td5 110 rear mudflaps and puma 110 rear mudflaps ?
if not, why does the rear wing edge wear away on pumas and not td5s or do they wear away on td5s too ? |

The mudflaps are the same. I've just repaired the rear wing edge on one side of mine at eight years old. The fact that so many Puma owners have seen failures on much younger vehicles does suggest a difference in wing material though. Thinner, or a slightly different alloy pethaps? Darren

thanks Darren, good to know they've not changed the design.
I've made up some stainless strips, bit like the ent..k ones and fitted on my green 110. |

I've reinforced mine with aluminium angle but, more importantly, introduced some rubber isolators between the mounting bolt and wing. The failure is basically metal fatigue and this should be avoided by making the joint flexible rather than rigid. Darren

Having both sounds logical but I think if I was to have only one then it would be the angle rather than a flexible mounting - assuming this is quite a decent section and so spreads the loading over a far larger area. If the fatigue was on the mudflap arm rather than the wing mount then I think the latter would be true. |
