Personally I would go for black on any grey or silver colour and keep the silver chequer plate to the darker colours of body work. Mammoth seem to be the best made although more pricey. Get what you pay for though!

I have black anodized. Exceptional quality. Genuine LR part but expensive.
Should still look new in 10 years time and anti-slip qualities are also good, what you'd expect from a step.
See my gallary.

Definitely black! Silver doesn't look right on a sliver/grey car! Thumbs Up Cool An engine to TDi for!

The best chequer plate?

Without a doubt Entreq, however that quality comes at a price.

If you want to see quality and something different have a look at Barbara's white 90 at the Harrogate show Thumbs Up

I'd normally say black, but I've had a look at some pictures and it just doesn't look right in black on silver, go for silver on silver.
I got mine from Paddocks, get a 3mm if you're going to get one, the only thing with Paddocks chequer plating is that the sill will need a trim with a grinder/cutter to fit perfectly up against the arches.

Just make sure of the fit with the side edge of the bonnet, especially if fitting with a gasket or this can happen:

Are the countersunk screws into captive nuts, or when you take them off does the nut drop away?

Different manufacturers of checker plats use different methods...some have self-tappers, some have rivnuts, some have through-bolts which you have to grope under the hole in the top, or behind the headlight (once you've taken the headlight unit out).

Mammouth, Entreq, and super-cheap stuff off ebay...they all fix-on differently I believe... Defender "Puma" 2.4 110 County Utility (possibly the last of the 2.4's)
