Bluetooth USB Dongle for Kenwood DAB
Hi,
anyone know whether you can get a USB Bluetooth blade/dongle to fit into your radio to connect a mobile phone?

Thanks BM52

Not as far as I am aware. You would need the Kenwood BT-300 (Check HU model that it's compatible) I'm very pleased with mine.

I see, thanks. I rarely use the phone when driving, it was just for music transfer. I'll have to think about this. At present I have one of those 16gb Sandisk mini blades in the USB slot. BM52

I see what you mean. I know the BT-300 comes with a hefty price tag but it does have a lot of features. Dependant on HU model and mobile type. There is the typical calling features such as phonebook and external mic but can also be used for SMS* (text message) and also music streaming if required. Without direct connection you won't get song info ect but you can skip forward and back meaning you can change music via the HU and not the phone even though it's a BT connection.. It would depend on how you have your music files stored on your phone. I tested mine and I was quite surprised how good the streaming quality was. To me it sounded like just playing a CD or regular wired connection there was no difference at all.

I think mine is a KDC-DAB4557U, quite new...

choices, choices...Bluetooth, More insulation, HD Bumper, and a few more bits.

I'm connecting it with a jack-lead at the moment, messy but it works.

Thanks for the advice BM52

I have just been looking up for you if the BT-300 is compatible for your HU but appears to be non BT ready so in other words it can't support BT usage. There are DAB HU's from Kenwood that do but yours does not seem top be one of them. Sad
So in that case if you like your current HU then I would keep it and get the insulation / bits you wanted or if you really did want BT then your have to upgrade / change your HU to a compatible model. Diesel$ Live$ Matter. ⛽️🛢️👨‍🔧🧰⚙️ RED, WHITE & BOOST! 🇬🇧

Thanks for the replies and research. Looks like I have to keep my wired connection. It's not the end of the world. Just untidy and is fiddly each time I get in.
Thumbs Up thanks. BM52

No problem. I assume it's one of the HU's with the socket at the front? If so I think they did it to be more user friendly but I hate it as it's in the way and not neat. I'd also worry about knocking it. Diesel$ Live$ Matter. ⛽️🛢️👨‍🔧🧰⚙️ RED, WHITE & BOOST! 🇬🇧
