Diff,Switch & step, fair play Main stealer
Hello ladies and gentlemen,

Credit where credit is due, my main stealer isn’t that bad! so i thought i would post it up Very Happy

I have had my 59 puma since August with just 11k on the clock. I have found out recently that the heater switch is knackered (No.3 didn’t work) I was also aware of the fact that the rear folding step was broken for some time, almost like a 45 stone male orangutan had been jumping up and down on it for 6.5 mins! Although the previous owner had probably reversed into something, which is more likely. I had been experiencing some knocks usually after coming of the gas in first and the weight shifts from rear to front so I thought as i have a warranty i would get all these bits sorted asap.

After reading a post on here where someone advised some one else to “travel at 80 mph and listen out for a ggrrrr sound from the back” to confirm if the rear diff is knackered and after a trip to France i remember hearing this noise, so i though i would add this to the list of things to do for the MD. After a little drive with a techie he confirmed the knocking noise was down to the Rear Flang! i have no idea what this is, but it is a cautionary issue and not a replaceable issue so no claim on this can be made they confirmed. However they did confirm that the diff was knackered and the heater switch too and both items will be picked up under warranty,

Regarding the step after i told them it was in this condition when i brought it from them they agreed to replace it also!! Not bad fair play.. Although what the hell is a rear flang!!? Confused

Ben

Typically I forgot to ask when I picked it up earlier! Although now the clock has stopped working I'm guessing they forgot to hook it up when refitting the dash? To that end is it just a case of whipping the three bolts off the console to get at it do you think?

Cheers

For the sake of completness took the Torx screws out and stereo popped the dash off, that was a moment of panic I know thought i broke it! and reconected the clock. job done!

I had a similar noise issue on my '09 Puma, had to take it to three different dealers to get it sorted. Not any one did all the work, but between the three of them they sorted it.

One of the causes was the rear drive flange... sadly can't remember what the issue was (think it was worn).
