Actual Capacity of Fuel Tank

Hi Peeps,

So on my newly acquired 2007 xs I chickened out of waiting for the low fuel light to come on as the gauge was very near to zero. However, on filling up to the brim I put 50.5 litres in that, according to the manual, meant that I should have had 6.5 litres remaining in the tank. The manual also states that the low fuel light should come on with 9 litres remaining so my low light should have come on; the light does work during start up self test. Now, being somewhat of a disbeliever in the accuracy of manuals, can anyone give me some accurate info for a 2007 90 xs Puma.

1. What is the actual capacity of the tank.
2. How much fuel does it take to fill the tank to the brim when the low fuel light comes on.
3. How much fuel does it take to fill the tank to the brim when the usage first reads 'zero'

Thanks ZeDefender but that thread seems to discuss 110 capacities rather than 90 Puma. My questions still stand if anyone can give me some answers it would be appreciated. Tried searching but nothing came up.

Tanked yesterday 5 km after the light went off, 53.19 l to the brim.
Maximum I have tanked ever was 57.76 l.

Just to note (from the other thread), the manual says at a certain minimum fuel level, the engine goes into limp mode in order to stop the fuel system pegging out. You can then limp 1.6 km before it dies entirely.

If it dies, you have to put in at least 4 L diesel and do some fancy key twisting/brake pedal pushing (see manual)to get it going again.

I guess the absolute minimum fuel level possible is a few litres. Tell someone you love them today because life is short.
But shout it at them in German because life is also terrifying and confusing...

Tank capacity

Hi,
Try getting in touch with Derrick at LRS (Ad on this website).
He fitted a gravity feed auxiliary tank to the rear wheel arch of my 2007 90 Defender.
I can now fill up to approximately 90 Litres - sufficient to take me the full length of Spain between Gibraltar and the north of Spain.
Worth every penny.
