TDCi third row seat query
Hi all,

A while back I had the third row seats in my TDCi removed while I was having some work done at the garage. Today I decided to put them back in; unfortunately due to damp weather and numb hands I ended up stripping the torx bolts that hold the seats in place. Embarassed Big Cry Big Cry

Can anyone tell me what spec these bolts are? They're the T30 ones. I've got to track down some replacements... and an extractor for something of this size. I've got a set for small screws, but they don't go up to the T30 size hole.

I imagine that I could use a Dremel to cut a groove in the head so that a flathead screwdriver would work as well...

Hi eutek,it's a shame your not passing Nottingham,I would of done it for you.
The best way is to weld a bolt onto what you have left the heat will also help the bolt come out.
Will have a few spare bolts to go back in.

Thanks for the kind offer, sadly Nottingham is a ways away from me. Thumbs Up

I finally managed to find the bolt size via the handy Microcat (don't know why I didn't think of that earlier), plus the size of some other screws that hold the kick panels in the front in place. They've rusted quite badly and I really should swap them out.

I don't happen to have welding kit (or even know how to use it) myself, so I'll just cut the stripped bolt head so that I can remove it with a flathead screwdriver. It'll give me the opportunity to break out the Dremel and some other kit, to show Mrs. Eutek that this stuff actually is usefull. Wink

If you do cut a groove into the head make sure it's just deep enough to grip with the screwdriver because if you cut to deep chances are it may well shear! Then that will be an absolute nightmare.

Got the stripped bolt out in the end. First cut a groove in the head, but my screwdriver head snapped off. Ended up using the Dremel to cut the sides of the head, to make it square, and used a ring spanner to remove it. It was really stuck in there.

Part of the issue is that I used the wrong Torx bit for that bolt. I had been using the correct size for the previous bolts and all had been going smoothly, however I removed it at one point for some other task, came back and grabbed the next size down! Embarassed
