Question Will using two stroke in a 2.2 Puma be ok? could it affect the DPF?

I remember reading up on the use of 2 stroke in diesel a lot before I started using it and I am sure that with a dpf it should not be used.

An expert wil be along shortly to correct me I am sure Thumbs Up

well I'm no expert but there's enough threads on 2SO in the archives of Def2 for a thesis.

As I understand DPF equipped motors can use 2SO provided it is Jaso FC spec which produces less ash than FB. The catalytic converter can cope with a bit of ash but the DPF doesn't like it as it won't burn off

Hit the search button and you'll find many a discussion on the pros and cons Thumbs Up

I tried 2so and my mpg dropped by 10% Big Cry So I don't use it anymore, first tank full without 2so and mpg returned to normal.Perhaps the exception that proves the rule. Its never over in my land rover.

Only if you use the wrong spec.

For vehicles with DPF, JASO-FC only! --

2 stroke oil
Hi,
Today I have purchased a quantity of Castrol Act>evo two stroke oil, stated on bottles as Jaso-FC, cost £5.96 per litre. The decision to start using 2so has now been made Surprised

No immediate difference noted but will see how things progress.

Hi Martin010161, any update to give? I am considering 2so for my new 2.2 utility. Also, what quantity do you use, I guess you have researched this.

Have been using Castrol FC graded 2SO in the BM with PDF for about 18 months and 18000 Miles no issues so far I use 250ml per fill up and use BP Ultimate (if I can), DEFENDER 90 TDCI XS,

I hope everyone is well and your land rovers make you happy

If you use BP Ultimate, why still use 2SO on top of that? I switched to BP Ultimate too, and since then my engine is as smooth as can be. Much less diesel knocking and when turning off, the EGR cleaning cycle is much quieter too.. You never actually own a Defender. You merely look after it for the next generation.

Ill be a bit out of line here, maybe.
This is a general 'forum wide' comment and it has no agenda with any particular individual.

There is a lot of talk about using Land Rover specific oils, using the exact grades etc for gearbox/engine/transfer box, why use 2 stroke oil, when it's not specified as a type of fuel to put in?
