I've had a shandy too many to easily make sence of my wiring diagrams here, but easy method...

Get a volt meter, set it on 12v. put the black lead onto a decent earth point (or the black lead on the headlight lead)

Ignition on, headlights on, push the stalk forward for main beam.

stick the other meter probe into the plug until you get a 12v feed. that's the one!

If you're running spots, you'll be using a relay, right? so running a cable back to the fusebox/under seat battery box/under seat ECU box? to a relay (i hope!)

Jim,

Essentially relay, two power outs to each lamp, vehicle grnd / earth, live feed for switch, battery pos with in line fuse, two seperate earths from battery neg run with power outs from underneath the battery box in corrugated conduit along the chassis leg up the firewall round the fan heater matrix up under the inner wing to front of wing down into front and hey presto !

the negative and switched pos along the seat box and up under dash, pos to rear of switch and neg to chassis earth, anothe neg from same chassis earth back up to rear of switch and the other pin on back of plug to the high beam wire in the steering wheel cowling,

Connect battery, keys in ignition and BINGO ! It works.................... DEFENDER XS CSW 08 TONGA GREEN
