hi all
have just changed the front disks on my 09 pums, why i here you all ask, well, i have changed them for a set of ap racing disks (358mm) and 6 pot calipers as supplied by je engineering. the fitting was straight forward, but as a result, the abs abd tc lights are now on. we did not remove or disturb the sensors in any way. we have braked hard on a gravel surfce, and the abs works. so, the question i have is, can anyone suggest why the abs and tc lights may be on, and how to solve? Sounds 100% like a sensor problem. Have you got a scan gauge to read the code? I must admit I find mine strange that I have to drive above 5 mph before the light goes out after starting.

It is going great. Have found a few small faults Hand Brake switch not connected (electrical connection connected) Rear step/Tow bar not tight (Tightened) Rear step/Tow bar end bolt spacers not fitted properly (Will be sorting this week) But all these are small points that I would rather fix myself as then I know they are done properly. The mpg is satisfactory and there are no weird or strange clonks or grinds  . I just cruised through 1000miles yesterday and she is still putting a smile on my face every time I see her.
Now I am attached to her now I think a name is now due .

I could be wrong but I think the sensor detects the rotating wheel via a castellated rim that is on the inside of the of the disc. If you have replaced the discs with non castellated ones the TC ABS don't know the car is moving. The car that knows its moving will be asking for input from the TC ABS but not getting feed back will throw the fault light up. Have a look at the ones you took off.
Or you have damaged a sensor. Glynparry25 The wheels have to turn before the sensor can send a signal, Also the ABS does not work below a certain speed 4mph I think. |

Hi all
checked the disk, and there is nothing on them that looks like a sensor can take a reading from, also, as the sensors where note removed, pretty sure that nothing has been damaged. thanks for the suggestions though. Cheers keith puer claudius |

1st question. Are the Puma axles the same as the Defender Td5? If so did you have to remove the hub to remove the disc rotor? If yes then the chances are you have disturbed the sensors on the rears. The front ones are in the top of the swivel housing and read of the cv joint. The rears read off of the hub. To reset them is easy. Just push them in as far as they will go. They will be pushed back by the sensor ring as the wheel rotates to their required position. Turn the ignition off and back on. All should be good again. If not you may have damaged something or diturbed a connection somewhere. Land Rovers are an addiction. Toyotas are for quitters.

thanks for that, just spoke with JE Eng who have confirmed what you described, so i will have a look today and make sure the sensor is back in position. have not touched the rears as yet, but will bare your commets in mind if and when i do. thanks for the help, much welcome. problem solved. pushed the sensors (each side) back down into hole, warning lights have reset. Cheers
