fitting tablet pc in a defender, for mapping etc
I have been using Memory map for years on a PDA and have found it invaluble, however technology moves on fast so I have installed memory map on an Ipad that I recently bought, I mounted it with a cheap windscreen suction cup mount but found that it had a tendency to fall off! so I worked out what I would need to build a more secure mount, and here is what I have come up with Very Happy
firstly is the ball fixing.

here is the cradle fixed and positioned out of the way.

Very neat and tidy. I have mine mounted on a flexible stalk (courtesy Leeds Thumbs Up ) with the base next to the passenger seat bolts - not utilising the actual bolts as I also have a Mud Tray fitted so had to move the mounting over a bit. Do find your solution much tidier as, again, with mine, you have to be careful not to obstruct gear changes and/or switch gear - difflock engagement needs a bit of deft elbow work Smile Tony

I am trying to work out a similar solution on my Puma, I find the flexible arm moves too much and my navigator has to hang on to the tablet pc Shocked

Ram mounts are extremely useful kit. Ipads etc can be mounted on the Defender grab handle. Also can be mounted on flexi arms.

Flexi arm is mounted under seat rail bolt.

Can not find the photo of the 2.5" ball mounted on the bulkhead.

There are 4 different sizes of ball dependent on the weight of the item to be held.

We do have a range of Ram Mounts in stock.

I bolted my ram ball to the grab handle,, now in its 4th Puma,, works fine,,

Run with a tough book, being a bit heavy and would move,, but only on rough washboard roads in Morocco and the like

For a later trip, tried a touch screen, that worked better,, but the I pad works the best
