United Kingdom 1998 Defender 110 300 Tdi SW Rioja Red
London Congestion Charge Exempt
My apologies if there's been a thread on this topic somewhere however, as I am due to travel into Central London next week, I thought I'd ask about how I can prove (with some documentary evidence) that my 1996 D110 300Tdi County was manufactured with a total of 12 passenger seats (incl driver).

As neither my V5C nor my insurance certificate show the number of seats, can anybody steer me to a website where I might find archive evidence that these cars were indeed built with 12 seats? Jaguar/Land Rover appear not to have anything nor are they able to steer me to the archives !

Many thanks !

If your registration number doesn't come back as 'compliant' on the TFL website, I think you've left it a bit late to start challenging their records.

Thanks for the prompt reply - and I'm not particularly hopeful about next week's necessary visit but I do say that the 12 seaters are exempt because they are classified as 'buses' ! My 1998 D110 300Tdi is exempt and I'd like to add the 1996 one to their records. They simply state that it is necessary to upload 'evidence' of the manufacturer having fit 12 seats.

For the 1998 D110, I recall finally speaking to some archivist somewhere in the country (whose details I no longer possess) who steered me to some application form from which I did (eventually) receive a manufacturer's spec list.

I have found loads of media articles mentioning the fact that the County was supplied as a 12 seater but nothing terribly official !

British motor museum at Gaydon hold the archives. They might be more helpful.  1988 90 Td5 NAS soft top

What about the LEZ/ULEZ charge? Assuming you didn't mean this by congestion charge. BORG - Bucks & Oxon 4x4 Response Group
