2003 Defender 90 2.5 TD PU Oslo Blue
Intercooler
My 2003 original Intercooler is a bit banana shaped so I think it’s time for a change.

The TD5 is a bit black Smokey under acceleration. It’s has had a stage 1 remap and egr delete. Nanocom seems to show that the Maf sensor is ok but I may change this anyway.

I’m thinking of fitting a new Intercooler but not sure how far to go, assuming the radiator is also original 2003 is this also worth changing ?

The Darkside Intercooler at £330 seems appealing or should I pay a bit more for allisport or alive ?.

I assume it’s worth changing pipework at the same time, any recommendations on this or are the silicone tubes all pretty much the same.

After completing the above I might take it to a tuner or see what tuning options are available via my Nanocom.

Would welcome any advise and suggestions

Many thanks

Before you spend money decide how far your going to go Laughing Laughing

Some intercoolers have cast tanks so will run higher boost pressures. Exhaust Will be another purchase Laughing ! Variable vane turbos make a massive difference to the drive…. In the last 18 years I’ve only dealt with Alive and cannot praise them enough. Others will say there tuner is better, but look around speak to a few and if possible have a go in a few mapped trucks. Your more than welcome to visit and see how mine drives Mr. Green

I have a darkside intercooler for my M57. Like Bankz, no holes in it yet. Has worked fine for a year so far.
