Manual gets my vote, better control, has various advantages in most situations in nearly all but heavy traffic where auto maybe a little more of a relaxing drive, but Defenders aren’t designed really for that kind of scenario anyway.

I think auto and manual should always be an option, seems that it suits different scenarios, driver preferences, and uses.
I think auto trans forces engine revs into a lot more unnecessary loads, and excessive driveline outside of the auto box.
Often you get hunting for gears, and missing the sweet spot on the torque curve in certain situations.
Especially more tricky terrain or technical driving scenarios, causing a lot of lag much akin to a kind of serious turbo lag which is not normally any kind of issue. Diesel$ Live$ Matter. ⛽️🛢️👨‍🔧🧰⚙️ RED, WHITE & BOOST! 🇬🇧

Ive had an Auto in my 110 for over 20years. Enjoyed it.

Brilliant in sand/Dunes and thick mud, better than a manual.

However if I need to change it I would have a manual.
