Koni or not
Id love the Koni shocks but i only drive on the road and about 3k a year, i need to change though. So i have looked at Terrafirma sport pro. What do you guys reckon....ive a 15 plate 90 and its special but at 1200 quid i think thats a bit rich for me.

I have Koni on my 110.... Seem to be pretty good... Adjustable to suit your requirements... these are my second set the first set suffered corrosion

If youre on road and not doing alot you dont need Konis.

Buy Old Man Emu, best value upgrade. To be honest with the low mileage just get regular OEM Instagram @defender_ventures

The Britpart celluar dynamic shocks are a good budget shock.

I've been running Britpart shocks for the last 8 years on various land rovers be it the cellular dynamic and the Supergaz ones have to say been very impressed with them yeah there cheap but they really aren't that bad value for money wise and if your doing low mileage definitely worth considering 110 Td5 Ex Utilities slowly converting into a pop top camper one day

i think the Koni are over rated for the funds personally, if it was gooing that far i would have them built for me.

Old man Emu are a great shock, pick duty to suit your needs.

personally i wouild avoid Britpart and terrafirma. in my experience neither of them last very long at initial performance Cheers

Sorry to hi-jack thread a little Very Happy

I have my Defender booked in for OME shocks in April. Question is which version should I get?

I am assuming Light - Medium based on below

Road use mainly.

2012 Defender 90 HT no rear seats, Standard hight, 18" wheels with BFGoodrich 265/65 tyres
Aluminium Storage draw and chest covering all the floor space. (usally empty)
Flatdog Roof rack always fitted.
NAS Step and 18" spare mounted to door(ORE carrier on wish list)
In the Summer I have Tentbox Classic fitted.

I'll start with the OP with my two penneth

IMO for you if you are happy with the current ride then don't swap. Just get a newer standard set up.

I've Run a few different kinds ands a fair substitute for standard is the Monroe adventurer it's a reasonably priced gas damper.

The Britparts (Cellular - Supergaz) I've seen and heard no major horror stories and the CD's i have on the series seem to be coping fine.

Terrafirma started really well I ran a set of the original's (when they had metal dust shields) All terrains and they lasted for years, also the older Big bores. It went a bit wrong and IMO they cheeped out.

A brand that seems to have disappeared is DeCarbon Always had a good ride with them.

For the money them I wouldn't have Koni just toooo much for what is a damper that should be about £100 cheaper.
For what koni want then I would be looking at Fox's instead. At least you could re valve them to get them spot on.

As for McGreen then IMO for 90% of what you do then the Light medium damper will be fine. Granted when loaded up with the tent the HD on the rear would be better but you compromise for the rest of the time.

It's been a few months running my current OME setup and to accept the slightly firmer ride when unladen, means that when full of camping gear and a trailer on the back means it handles lovely and ergo safely.
I do like the quality and the performance but IMO you've got to be thinking this is a setup for above standard where you now that standard stuff you would back off as the ride is compromised or you have boiled the standard dampers, the OME would be just happy carrying on. Also can be found on Fb, Ytube, Insta & Twitter @4WDSouthwest

Personally I'm a big fan of Koni....

One of my Three go two brands - Koni, Fox and Tractive

I've used Koni on everything from standard Defenders to heavily loaded camper conversions - and are adjustable (off the vehicle).

On your Defender I'd run them all the standard lowest/softest setting (although again like fox they can be revalved)

Combined with larger rear anti roll bar (25mm) your Defender would handle very well. IRB
