mine came with carpets, I took them out soundproofed, put them back and have rubber mats on top, the sound proofing was well worth it. DEFENDER 90 TDCI XS,

My 110 which is a 2014 came without carpet, but had the rubber interior.
I was pretty fed up with this when I got it, but in hindsight, the rubber interior has been so much more practical to live with. |

Personal preference, but I have rubber flooring/mats in my 2014 110XS and carpet in my 110 TD5.
For me, it's rubber all the way. Rubber is easy to clean and more importantly the carpets seem to soak up water (not good) |

I put Dynamat down, then refitted the rubber matting.
It was well worth doing, I prefer the rubber for reasons others have stated. My rubber matting could do with replacing, my only annoyance is that the rubber matting is very expensive, but does have a very long life so I suppose counters that. It’s a pity it isn’t a bit more hard wearing on the edges and corners. It improves sound proofing, merely the rubber matting it’s self on top of the soundproofing. I had to remove the very whole thing from the bulkhead when trying to bring to life again a drowned 2.2 Puma. So I covered with dynamat style butyl sheets every single panel part in the interior.
At the end it improved a bit the noise but nothing dramatic. Most cars nowadays have noise barriers in not only in the inside, but also outside of the bulkhead. Would I do it again? No. I think it would work better by adding a noise shield behind the engine. Puma 110" SW ............................................................. Earth first. Other planets later |

We found the original vinyl/rubber seatbox covering was getting shabby in ours, so we decided to take it all out 2mm silent coat and then carpets on top. It's certainly tidied things up a bit inside, but ours was looking very worn.
I'd recommend some seatbox corner protectors we find we're always dragging our feet past the corner when getting in and out. One other thing we did was to get some 6mm closed foam and mass loaded vinyl, this went on the floor underneath the mats and does a reasonable job of quietening things down. We also didn't put in the carpet floor mats and got some rubber ones instead. The seatbox rarely gets wet so being carpet I haven't worried about holding moisture. In the footwells to me it makes sense to keep this rubber to avoid having to worry about holding on to moisture. Also, one other thing, we got our carpets from exmoor trim, but found that on the sides of the seatbox they were a little short, so whilst I'm still ok with the finished result, I wouldn't necessarily buy those carpets again. It wasn't night and day in terms of being quieter but it did make some difference. |

yep well worth doing try and get it as far up the bulkhead as you can as most of the engine noise comes through the bulkhead.
Then do the seat box as well, transmission noise and engine noise comes up there |

Thank you all for your replies I shall get all the bits ordered and get it done thinking of going with the lucari set they look like a nice set. And also get some stainless steel door trims to finish it off nicely.🙂

I did it, sound deadening all through then carpeted, did the back too - it’s a much nicer place to be.

Just a bit of an update I sound proofed all the front with dodo mating and fitted lucari carpet set. I'm very pleased with the result and it's crazy how much the noise difference is 🤯. Also while doing all this I fitted some bearmach door seals and I'm very impressed with them considering I get them for £40 and genuine are about £200.🫣
