How do you know when a new navigation map update is available?

Thought I read somewhere that it automatically downloads the latest version, ie as a background update?

I got a message on user screen saying map updates are available. I had to download on my Mac to a usb stick and upload to the car from the stick. 110 MY23.5 X Dynamic HSE

The uk maps are downloaded automatically over the air if you are in the uk.if you want maps updated for other countries you have to download to a USB on your computer and then load into car.if you are not going abroad then its not worth it. 110 XS 250 MY 23 Gondwana Stone, Cold climate pack and towbar

Are you sure, if you go into the navigation settings then about in pivi there is a section which shows the map version for each country which is downloaded. At the top of the list you will see United Kingdom and a date when it was issued. See Picture. this has changed since Pivi 4.0.0, before that it was at the bottom os the list and showed a week number and year. This is an over the air download.

It’s quite confusing. It’s good if it downloads uk maps over the air and other countries via usb if you need them. I haven’t read that anywhere from Land Rover so it seems a bit confusing for anyone to know that. If it says new maps are available you would presume you need to download them to update the ik maps too

In the update release notes for 4.0.0 it says:
the region your vehicle is located in is automatically updated over the air in most markets where there is a valid Connected Navigation Subscription. So in the UK, UK maps would get OTA updates. this happened in the UK before 4.0.0 , but i think more regions were added mines always updated maps OTA 110 XS 250 MY 23 Gondwana Stone, Cold climate pack and towbar
