110 Utility Suspension Tweaks
I have a 2013 110 Utility. It has a Patriiot rack and looking at Tentbox roof tents. It carries myself, the missus and a small person. I may remove a a secondrow seat or two and pop in some 'camperesque' fittings. She sits on HD rear springs ( I assume) short looking and beefy.

The ride is ermmm...'jarring'. I understand from research on here that the standard CSW Green/White springs will improve things. I have some Koni Rear shocks en route.

It sounds as if the HD springs are shorter than the standards so I am concerned about the rear sitting too high when unladen. Roof tent will be biased towards the rear and about 65kg.

What is the best way to improve the ride/comfort and maintain a level ride? It will be heavily favouring the road. I've read about Alive Comfort springs but I know they lower things.

Any steer appreciated. 2001 Defender Special Vehicles TD5 Hardtop (Ex Scottish & Southern) Side Lockers, Side Hatches - Poorly chassis and bulkhead. (SORNd)

Purple/brown coded progressive springs are great for a usw. That's what they came with originally. What's your on? Cheers

I haven't found the paint marks yet. I assume they are the Purple/Brown HD. They might be great if I add 3-400kg into the back but at the moment it is awful. Slightest blemish in the road is bad. 2001 Defender Special Vehicles TD5 Hardtop (Ex Scottish & Southern) Side Lockers, Side Hatches - Poorly chassis and bulkhead. (SORNd)

I had 4 USWs all with the factory HD suspension and never had any issues with them. Have you had another Def previously to compare it to?

Yep. 110 TD5 Hardtop. That was a Special Vehicles with HD Chassis etc. Can't for the life of me remember what I did to that one but the ride was better. I'll have to see if I can find some paperwork and see what I did with the coils. 2001 Defender Special Vehicles TD5 Hardtop (Ex Scottish & Southern) Side Lockers, Side Hatches - Poorly chassis and bulkhead. purple/brown are good as std in my opinion. mine has helpers inside in fact for when it is loaded.

you sure you dont have some aftermarket HD ones?

i would suggest you have something else in there or very hard tyres if your finding pot holes jaw breaking. assuming of course your not smashing into them. Cheers

It is really any rut, not even potholes. Tyres are mixed on the axles. Gen Grabber ATs rear and some Radar Renegade on the front. I can swap my BFG ATs from the '4 wheeled storage unit'.

A section of the coating just came off and definitely a purple splodge. 2001 Defender Special Vehicles TD5 Hardtop (Ex Scottish & Southern) Side Lockers, Side Hatches - Poorly chassis and bulkhead. (SORNd)

Check the tyres aren’t over inflated without load, and also what bushes are fitted?
If they are Poly, then they might be your problem.
I tried them, went back to Genuine rubber.

Though mine is a 90, I use 32PSi front, and 34PSi rear I don’t tow any more than 1T.

A 110 sometimes has the rear pressure high, which is for heavy loaded towing which depends on if that’s required or not. Diesel$ Live$ Matter. ⛽️🛢️👨‍🔧🧰⚙️ RED, WHITE & BOOST! 🇬🇧

I wouldn’t do anything other than check and try different tyre pressures until your new shocks turn up as they may sort the crashing. Also worth checking the condition of bushes. WARNING.

Cheers. Bushes are definitely something I need to address. Will get the shocks off and see how they are. The springs and shocks are not looking their best. I'll drop the pressures further. They arrived very high at the rear. 2001 Defender Special Vehicles TD5 Hardtop (Ex Scottish & Southern) Side Lockers, Side Hatches - Poorly chassis and bulkhead. (SORNd)
