Morning All,
It's time for me to replace my B Pillar on my 2009 110 2.4TDCi Utility Wagon. One is completely ruined and the other is showing signs of corrosion so I'm thinking of replacing both to save costs on spraying. I've a few questions so hopefully somebody can point me in the right. Is it a big job? (excluding the spraying etc) From what I can work out it's a case of removing the door & brackets, all fixings (seatbelt) and obviously the fixings that hold the B Pillar replacement. Do I need to raise the roof in order to slide in the B Pillar? Anything else I should be aware of when tackling this job? Corrision or further complications? Oh no! I wasn't expecting that I thought (hoping) it was pretty much a straightforward job. It's only the B Pillar which has corrosion at the bottom about 40mm.
I'm guessing it's a bodyshop job. |

we have just fitted a set of their a b c pillars.
one bent on arrival ( and it was shipped that way)and neither of them fitted. they did say send it abck for another one. both needed a fair bit of rework to fit properly. the spot welds are also poor and broke when we tried to fit them. they have less spot welds than originals as well. the yrm ones on the other hand are well made and fitted spot on when we did another set on a mates truck. |

I notice you're in Lancs like me. Just over the border in West Yorkshire is Alpine Restorations who have done this job more than once before I think, they put it up on their Instagram from time to time if you want to have a search. I had some work done by them last year that involved them mucking about with sub-standard aftermarket panels (a roof in my case) and I was just glad is was them and not me sorting it out. I'd certainly at least get a quote from them or somewhere similar, just so you know what your saving if you undertake it yourself. 2007 110 TDCi Station Wagon XS

I'm in Preston Lancs, so going to start having a ring around this week and find a decent reliable Land Rover specialist. I'll give Alpine a ring but the logistics maybe a struggle.

First thing l did when l got my 110 was to lie on the floor and wax inject the B pillars. Also inside the windscreen frame with an extension hose on the sprayer.
Plus, the pillar where the front door hinges are. lt gets sprayed with mud at the bottom, from the front wheel. Fortunately mine were all still good, but l've seen these parts looking rough on even late model Defenders. |
